I hope they have manual controls somewhere. Having analogue methods to control something incase of physical damage to the operating system is a benefit when you're lost in space and stranded. If you have a keyboard, you can still type even if your screen is gone. Analogue can be useful in some very rare instances. Not every step forward is actually better.

Captain here: falcon 9 display runs a special SpaceX-Made Linux. The UI is developed using LabView to visualize all telemetric data and give commands to the backend of the command module OS. So basically, both systems are not connected on the software side. The command modules sends and receives data from and to the displays and the ground command as well. Each monitor runs his own instance, so if one is failing, you can still use other display. If my information are correct it's quiet similar to the FMS/MCDU of modern airliners.

hope the redundsnt batt doesnt fail because Im sure there is no generator. From experience flew one of these new full glass cockpit small planes, happen both batt died only 1 alternator (failed) ended up guessing alt speed and direction as not a single avionics. for those whose dont know analog avionics runs electrical vaccum and ramming air

I think it would still be better to have analog controls. I mean, what if the screen gets broken and touch controls does not work. They might have an overide for remote control via the control center on earth but what if that too fails. Still better to have knobs and switches.

It probably is inevitable, but this "everything being automated and controlled via touchscreens" thing kind of bothers me. I surely would trust a properly written software to drive or fly vehicles since humans are mostly terrible, still, it takes the "coolness" away. I think I'm old.
